Naval Air Warfare Center, Patuxent River, 01 September 1998 — Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Michael E. Ryan took his first flight in the MV-22 Osprey recently. The MV-22 is a joint-service, multimission, tiltrotor aircraft. Ryan piloted the MV-22 for about one hour to gain first-hand knowledge of the aircraft's performance and capabilities, and its future role in modernizing medium-lift helicopters.
