U.S.M.C. AH-1W Cobra
At sea aboard USS Saipan (LHA 2), 13 January 2003 —
AH-1W “Cobra” helicopters from Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron Two Six Nine (HMLA-269) get directions prior to lift off from USS Saipan off the coast of North Carolina.
Saipan is part of an amphibious task force which will carry the North Carolina-based 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade’s 7,000 Marines on an undisclosed mission. Marine aviation flying from Navy amphibious ships demonstrates the tight integration of the Navy-Marine Corps Team.
