AH-1W Super Cobra
Djibouti, Eastern Africa,
09 April 2002 — An AH1W Super Cobra attack helicopter from Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 261 (Reinforced) flies over a mortar position en route to a live-fire range in Djibouti. During Djibouti MEUEX Phase III, most of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable)'s fire support and heavy weapons were brought to play including M1A1 tanks, Cobras, AV8B Harrier II attack jets, 81 and 60mm mortars, and 155mm howitzers.
