U.S. Marines AH-1W Super Cobra
USS Bonhomme Richard, 04 March 2002 —
Major Alex G. Hetherington, an AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter pilot with the Aviation Combat Element of the 13th MEU (SOC) — Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 165 (Rein) — prepares his Super Cobra helicopter. A little more than an hour later the Super Cobra and its two pilots launched from the flight deck of the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) to support Operation Anaconda as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
